What the major steps in dental implants?

Posted by admin as Cosmetic Dentistry

I may have to have dental implants… 2 of my teeth need excraction. I wanted to know, Im I going to go with out couple teeth for a long time? I would be so embarrased to go to work with no front teeth. Does the dentist put temporary teeth till I get the permanent ones?

I have implants and my Doctor is a Prosthodontist not a Periodontist. A prostodontist is a dentist whose practice if for replacement of teeth and many often specialize in placing implants.

For people who have only 2 teeth replaced just avoid chewing on that side for me I have a total implant restoration where I had to be very careful. There are different ways of approaching implants and it depends on the dental professional you choose. You will find that not all dental professionals do the immediate loading.

Some pull the teeth and make you wear a partial or denture until you gums are healed and other’s place implants right away but put cover the implants with the gum tissue and you wear a partial or denture until they open the gums and attach the abutment and then again for a short time you wear your denture or partial and about 6 months later you get your actual teeth.

All in all it takes a while but I like the kind I got because no one but me knew they were temporary and they were so very beautiful.

Are dental implants worth the money and time?

Posted by admin as Cosmetic Dentistry

I am planning to have dental implants,6 upper jaw and 5 lower jaw total 11….is it worth spending lots of money and time for those implants besides I’ve had gum disease before therefore lost most of my teeth and my dentist (endodontist) told me that implants may last lifetime is it true?

I had a partial before I got my dental implants. Hated it as food would go under it and it hurt to eat. Now I have 8 implants on top and 6 on the bottom. I have a fixed prosthesis that is attached with screws. See my avatar? That is my new smile. Worth it? OH MY YES. Sorry to seem as if I am yelling with all the caps but that is how enthusiastic I am about my new smile. I was also told that mine will last my lifetime. The implants go into the bone and bond with the bones to become almost part of the bone itself. Your new smile will be strong and beautiful. You will be able to eat anything you want without damaging the implants however, you might want to be careful what you bite as you can damage the teeth. For example: I was told no chomping on ice. That can damage natural teeth as well. Feel free to write to me if you want.
